As a follow-up to the Cuba Program’s 2/22/2021 conference on the 
environment and sustainability, the Cuba Program will present the 
documentary /Cuba: Living Between Hurricanes/ which focuses on the 
impact of climate change on Cuban communities.

*Michael Chanan*is a filmmaker, writer and Emeritus Professor of Film & 
Video at Roehampton University, London.A large part of his work as both 
a writer and filmmaker has been focused on Latin American cinema, 
especially Cuban. He is the author of a history of Cuban cinema and has 
filmed in most Latin American countries since the 1980s. He is the 
director of /Cuba: Living Between Hurricanes./

*Jean Stubbs*is an Associate Fellow of the Institute of Latin American 
Studies, University of London and the Institute of the Americas, 
University College of London.She is also Professor Emerita of London 
Metropolitan University, where she directed the Caribbean Studies Center 
(2002-09). She is a member of the Academy of History of Cuba and past 
president of the Caribbean Studies Association (2002-03).She has 
published widely on Cuban agriculture,labor, gender, race and migration. 
She is the author of /Tobacco on the Periphery: A Case Study of Cuban 
Labour History, 1860-1958/. She is a co-producer of /Cuba: Living 
Between Hurricanes/.
