Dear Friends,

I want to let you know about a zoom event organized through Boston networks by Mass Peace Action and the Palestinian Community of Boston, '48 Palestinians: Popular Resistance for Palestinian Unity.

Palestinians who carry Israeli citizenship have played crucial roles in mobilizations in Sheikh Jarrah, where Palestinians face illegal home expulsions. Last month, they organized a major day of strike for dignity and unity for all Palestinians as Israel bombed Gaza. They have also helped to make Palestinian activism visible in Palestinian cities like Nazareth, as in the mural attached. The new organization Addar, based in Nazareth, works to strengthen understandings of Palestinian unity for all Palestinians. Come hear from leaders of this urgent activism!
In this seminar, we will hear from two leaders in Nazareth, a lawyer and a grassroots leader. They will talk to us about the role of Palestinian activism in recent events as well as the legal structures of apartheid that impact Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship.
Speakers:
Aiah Haj Odeh graduated from Tel Aviv University in 2016 with a degree in Law. She has worked as a human right lawyer with Adalah, the legal center for Arab minority rights in Israel. She now works with UNICEF on a human rights project to defend Palestinian children in Israeli military prisons. Recently, Aiah started working in a human rights law firm as an advocate focusing on family reunifications within Palestinian communities. She represents prisoners on behalf of physicians for human rights. She is a founder of Addar organization in 48 [Israel].
Rula Nasr-Mazzawi is a psychologist, social worker, and political activist from Nazareth in 48 [Israel]. Rula is an advocate for Palestinian Refugees and displaced persons and for right of return. She is one of the founders and board members of Addar organization in 48. She is a board member of Badil Resource Center for Residency and Refugee Rights in Bethlehem. Rula is a member of Adrid, the association for defense of the rights of internally displaced people in 48, and a member of Hirakat movement in 48.

Moderated by Amahl Bishara, associate professor of anthropology at Tufts University and author of Driving While Palestinian and other works on the relationship between Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship and those living in the occupied territory of the West Bank.
