Dear All,

While Harvard celebrates
<https://www.harvardmagazine.com/2022/01/jhj-financial-report>, "*...*that
the endowment soared in value to $53.2 billion—up from $41.9 billion a year
earlier, driven by a 33.6 percent investment return on endowment assets,"
the university has apparently decided it needs to economize by cutting
workers' hours or even terminating them. Managers have told union
organizers they plan changes at HSCRB* that could lead to layoffs or
reductions in hours.

One of the workers targeted is HUCTW** member Kevin Harrington, who has
faced retaliation ever since he put in for a legitimate overtime claim.
Because he dared to ask to be paid for hours worked, Kevin has been hit
with extra duties, hyper-supervision, and unfair criticism in his personnel
file. Now Harvard threatens to cut Kevin's hours or lay him off.

Join the virtual picket line! Please contact HU's President Larry Bacow at
617 495-1502; president at harvard.edu (pls cc me on the emails;
geoff.carens at gmail.com). Suggested message:

"I demand no layoffs or cuts in HSCRB. Harvard has no need to deprive any
workers of the income they need, especially now. Please use your influence
to end the retaliation against HUCTW member Kevin Harrington."

In Solidarity,
