*April 10, - May 1st 2022
11 AM *(EST)

*4/10* “Afghan Voices in Terrible Times: Films and Filmmakers” with
Michael Sheridan & Afghan Filmmakers in Exile

From "The Fruit of Our Labor" —Afghan Perspectives in Film

*Sunday, April 10th at 11 AM:*

*“Afghan Voices in Terrible Times: Films and Filmmakers”
with Michael Sheridan & Afghan Filmmakers in Exile*

Afghan filmmakers in exile will speak to their trauma as well as their
country’s trauma since the fall of the country to the Taliban. They will
share films they made during Community Supported Films training and
mentoring project 2010-12 - in happier times. Michael Sheridan, CSFilm's
director will speak to the work of CSFilm to help evacuate and resettle
Afghans and what the community can do to help.

Filmmakers in exile who will join us are:
*Aqeela Rezai*, filmmaker and actress, currently a refugee in France
*Reza Sahel*, filmmaker and photographer, currently a refugee in Germany
*Jamal Aram*, filmmaker and author, CSFilm project coordinator and
translator,
former refugee now with citizenship in Canada

*• Michael Sheridan*is a member of Community Supported Film Director.
Community Supported Film (CSFilm) amplifies local voices in under- and
mis-represented communities so that they can effectively communicate
their lived realities through documentary film making. We believe that
if people learn about the world’s challenges from the local perspective
they will be better able to demand the right actions from their
governments and to support effective humanitarian responses.

As the world faces the existential crisis of the climate emergency, it

share his experiences directing a small climate-focused, social profit
organization within the context of a much larger climate action movement
in Maine.

*• Scott Vlaun*is the Director of the Center for an Ecology-Based
Economy (CEBE) in Norway, Maine and a founding board member of Maine
Climate Action NOW! Since 2013 CEBE has been working for a just
transition to a post fossil fuel economy in rural western Maine and beyond.
