Join Donkeysaddle Projects founder Jen Marlowe and Director of
Operations Gabriella Haddad to learn about Donkeysaddle’s approach to
filmmaking and storytelling that is rooted in solidarity and long-term
partnerships with those whose stories are being amplified. With stories
and film clips from their work in Palestine, Sudan, Georgia’s death row,
and more, they will explore how storytelling can be an act of
solidarity–and liberation.

*Jen Marlowe *is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, author,
journalist, playwright, and the founder of Donkeysaddle Projects. A
social justice/human rights activist, she uses film and the written word
as a tool of solidarity and activism. Recently, Jen directed and
produced There Is A Field and Remembering the Gaza War, and co-produced
Just Vision’s Naila and the Uprising. Jen’s other films include Witness
Bahrain, Rebuilding Hope: Sudan’s Lost Boys Return Home, and Darfur
Diaries: Message From Home. Her articles and essays have appeared in
Time, The Nation, Mondoweiss, Al Jazeera America, Colorlines, and Yes!
Her books include I Am Troy Davis, The Hour of Sunlight: One
Palestinian’s Journey from Prisoner to Peacemaker, and Darfur Diaries:
Stories of Survival.
Jen was a founding board member of the Friends of the Jenin Freedom
Theatre. She has received awards from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis
Reporting, the Nation Institute Investigative Fund, and received the
Lannan Foundation’s Cultural Freedom Fellowship. When she is not
filming, writing, protesting, or engaged in other forms of resistance to
state and structural violence, Jen can be found backpacking on the
Pacific Crest Trail.
*Gabriella Haddad*, Director of Operations for Donkeysaddle Projects, is
a Palestinian-American organizer born and raised in the DC area.
Alongside her ongoing activism, Gabriella has focused on supporting
institutional establishment and expansion for smaller social justice and
community organizations in the U.S.
