Subject: Tree Huggers, Campers NEEDED in MALCOLM X PARK

~Please Share Widely~

Tuesday (6.21.2022) the City released a lie-laden “construction update” at
5 pm and clearly intends to cut 29 marked trees (new yellow ribbon tied
today) - for cutting most likely TOMORROW

I, Derrick Evans, will camp out on top of HONEYSUCKLE HILL to protest and
disrupt this activity tonight until whenever

I NEED TREE HUGGERS to help GUARD TREES with me ASAP and 24/7

PLEASE ONLY RESPOND IF YOU ARE COMING

GO TO 79 DALE ST OR TO MALCOLM X PARK on Honeysuckle Hill

(corner of Dale & Paulding Streets off of Washington St - Roxbury)

More background:

Roxbury's beloved Malcolm X Park, is being destroyed by Robert Kraft:
basketball courts, 2 softball fields and a tot lot are being torn up; 29
mature trees are about to be cut down starting June 23rd, and astroturf is
slated to replace grass on the two fields.Astroturf ---- which can create
heat 35 -50 degrees F in surrounding areas-----is
set to be installed on the Park's softball fields, consolidated into one
soccer field in this neighborhood with few trees and high rates of
childhood asthma.
Neighborhood spokesperson Dr. Derreck Evans, leader of the neighborhood
opposition, is a historian who taught civil rights history at Boston
College and established a museum in Mississippi honoring the Black
community. He is calling for others to join him to prevent this social and
environmental injustice. The construction site is already roped off and the
destruction has begun.

Please alert the media and social media to this and forward his request
widely. SPEAK OUT, CAMP OUT, TELL PEOPLE
