It is nearly 77 years since August 6th, 1945 when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later on August 9th, the U.S. dropped a second nuclear bomb on the city of Nagasaki. Altogether more than 200,000 lives were lost.

Today, the war in Ukraine rages, geopolitical tensions mount in the East and the threat of nuclear war has never been higher. Humanity has failed to grasp the grim lessons of those fateful attacks.

On the weekend of August 6th/7th, peace activists will again gather in communities across Massachusetts and in Rhode Island to commemorate this somber anniversary and call for the abolition of nuclear:
