SpeakOUT Spring LGBTQ+ Speaker Training

Saturday, April 22, 9am-6:00pm

Suffolk University

Become a Voice for Change!

Since 1972, SpeakOUT has brought committed and enthusiastic LGBTQ+ folks
together in empowering trainings to share their personal stories and to
learn how to engage with a variety of audiences. SpeakOUT is a community of
speakers working to create a world free of homo-bi-transphobia and other
forms of prejudice by telling the truths of our lives and raising awareness
about our community to create safe and more inclusive spaces.

The Spring Speaker Training prepares volunteer speakers to conduct
interactive speaking engagements in schools, colleges, workplaces, faith
communities, and more in the Greater Boston area & beyond. Especially
looking for interested BIPOC, transgender/nonbinary and younger speakers.

The training will focus on valuable skills such as setting the right tone,
shaping and telling a story, overcoming fear, working with a co-speaker,
and answering difficult questions. Participants will work in large groups
as well as small breakout sessions with experienced speakers to hone their
story.

Cost: $75 standard; $35 for seniors/students. Inquire about group rates,
sliding scale, and scholarships. Don’t let the cost keep you from
participating. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to
register, visit bit.ly/SpeakOUTSpring2023Training or email
info at speakoutboston.org.
