Widely respected for her depth and diversity, <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Kate
Taylor</span></b> will weave her musical magic through the peace-themed
program, <b><i><span style='font-weight:bold;font-style:italic'>Celebrating
Women's Voices for Peace</span></i></b>. The evening will feature local women,
young and old alike, speaking out on the critical issues of the day. <st1:City
w:st="on">Taylor</st1:City> will be accompanied by <b><span style='font-weight:

style='font-weight:bold'>Meredith Sheldon</span></b>, a talented young singer
currently touring with the <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Ben Taylor Band</span></b>.<br>

Kate Taylor will share her rich blend of folk rock and blues, rooted in the
soul and gospel sounds of her southern upbringing as <b><span style='font-weight:
bold'>WAND, Women's Action for New Directions</span></b>, marks its <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>25<sup>th</sup> anniversary</span></b>. In 1982, a
group of women inspired by <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Helen Caldicott</span></b>,
founded <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Women's Action for Nuclear
Disarmament</span></b> in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Boston</st1:City></st1:place>

Over the years, WAND has celebrated <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Mother's
Day</span></b> in its original spirit, as <u>a day for Peace</u>. Inspired by <u>Julia
Ward Howe's vision in 1872 of Mother's Day as a time when everyone (especially
mothers) should come together to speak out against war and work for peace</u>,
this year's benefit will be a mix of audience participation, dramatizations,
and musical performances.<br>
<br>
Kate Taylor is thrilled to be getting back to making and performing music
after taking more than twenty years off to raise her family. Commenting on her
recent flurry of eclectic musical activity, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">Taylor</st1:City></st1:place> summarized, "<i><span
style='font-style:italic'>I love to sing Rythym and Blues, rockabilly, Scottish
ballads, Appalachian folk music, rock 'n' roll and gospel too. It's all
fun but it makes it hard to classify my musical style into one genre. I am
thrilled to be working with my dear friends John Sheldon and Meredith Sheldon
on this event. I'm looking forward to it</span></i>."<br>
<br>
<b><i><span style='font-weight:bold;font-style:italic'>Celebrating Women's
Voices for Peace</span></i></b> will benefit the <b><span style='font-weight:

of the Education Fund is to educate the public and opinion leaders about the
need to reduce violence and militarism in society, and redirect excessive
military spending to unmet human and environmental needs.<br>
