Public Meeting
Another World is Possible: Why Socialism Makes Sense

Thursday, September 20th
7:00 PM
42 Seaverns Avenue, Jamaica Plain

Millions of people are fed up with the state of US democracy where the
rich and powerful still run the media, dominate politics, and have
hold over the military and police fighting endless wars abroad and at
home. Every major poll shows tens of millions of Americans have
left-wing opinions about Iraq, health care, abortion rights, saving
the environment and union rights.

What can we do to change it?
Capitalism has created so much wealth that there is no longer any
reason for anyone on earth to go without proper food, shelter,
education, and health care. Unfortunately, this system puts profits
before people.

Is change possible?
The US has a rich history of ordinary people standing up for their
rights. From the labor struggles of the 1930s to the anti-war movement
of the
1960s people have fought back and won victories. But these
struggles didn't go far enough to actually challenge the system that
breeds inequality and violence.

What is the alternative?
Socialism can explain the world we live in, provides an alternative to
the status quo, and inspires us to take on today's struggles. Another
world is possible and we have the power to change it. Join us for a
lively discussion that takes on these questions and explains why
socialism makes sense.

transportation:
Orange Line to Green St., left out of the station, up Green St., left
onto Alfred St., Right on Seaverns.
or from Centre Street, Seaverns is on your left.

Sponsored by the International Socialist Organization
For more information contact: 617-648-0561 or <SPAN id=lw_1189469544_1 style="CURSOR: hand; BORDER-BOTTOM:
