Journalist <B>Charlie Savage</B> claims that the Bush Administration has systematically set out to concentrate government power in the executive branch: imposing greater White House control on career officials (from civil rights lawyers at the Justice Department to government scientists at the EPA), expanding its own zone of secrecy, and increasing the President's power to change the meaning of duly enacted laws. Many argue that such use of presidential power is necessary in an age of terrorism and imminent security threats. Others suggest that these new tools will lie around like loaded weapons for any future president--liberal or conservative--to use to advance his or her own political agenda. Tonight, Mr. Savage, <I>Boston Globe</I> reporter and winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting, joins the Ford Hall Forum to address the current expansion of executive power and what it means for the future of our country.<BR>
