<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Rami Khouri</span></b> is a Beirut-based
internationally syndicated columnist, Director of the Issam Fares Institute of
Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut,
and editor-at-large of <i><span style='font-style:italic'>The Daily Star</span></i>
newspaper. He also regularly shares his insights on the BBC, NPR, and CNN. He
joins Ford Hall Forum to shed light on the forces shaping the direction and
impact of <st1:country-region w:st="on">United States</st1:country-region>
policy in the <st1:place w:st="on">Middle East</st1:place>. Where is it
failing? Are there effective policies and programs that should be expanded? And
what are the challenges that lay ahead?<br>

<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Rami George Khouri</span></b> is a
Palestinian-Jordanian and <st1:country-region w:st="on">US</st1:country-region>
citizen whose family resides in <st1:City w:st="on">Beirut</st1:City>, <st1:City
w:st="on">Amman</st1:City>, and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Nazareth</st1:City></st1:place>.
He is the Director of the Issam Fares Institute of Public Policy and
International Affairs at the American University of Beirut as well as
editor-at-large of the Beirut-based <i><span style='font-style:italic'>Daily
Star</span></i> newspaper, published throughout the Middle East with the
International Herald Tribune. He is an internationally syndicated political
columnist and author. Rami Khouri was a visiting scholar at <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Stanford</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType>
in October 2006, and in November 2006, he was the co-recipient of the Pax
Christi International Peace Award for his efforts to bring peace and reconciliation
to the <st1:place w:st="on">Middle East</st1:place>.<br>

In its 99th fall series of events, the <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Ford
Hall Forum</span></b> presents seven open public discussions on the issues
concerning our community, nation, and world today. With the 2008 election
approaching, the Forum takes a hard look at the state of our government and the
