Music has a fascinating power to haunt us and heal us. In MUSICOPHILIA, essayist-physician Oliver Sacks looks at music and its mysterious relationship to the brain. A recent Booklist review explains further: "Neurologist Sacks...charmingly argues that music is essential to being human in ways that have only begun to be understood. His customary erudition and fellow-feeling ensure that, no matter how clinical the discussion becomes, it remains, like the music of Mozart, accessible and congenial." Sacks, author of the classic THE MAN WHO MISTOOK HIS WIFE FOR A HAT comes to Cambridge Forum at the First Parish Church on November 5 to discuss MUSICOPHILIA: Tales of Music and the Brain. The program begins at 7:30 pm; doors open at 6:45pm. Tickets are required for this forum. Call Cambridge Forum at 617-495-2727 to reserve your free ticket. You may purchase a $5 ticket (with $5 book discount coupon) from Harvard Book Store at 617-661-1515.
