Councilor
Chuck Turner will introduce a resolution to declare <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Boston</st1:place></st1:City> a <b><i>“Coke Free”</i></b>
City. Join with <st1:City w:st="on">Boston</st1:City> area unionists
and community activists to
support
this important act of solidarity with our sisters and brothers in <st1:country-region
w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Colombia</st1:place></st1:country-region>.

style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Whereas,
</span></b><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">the
District
Council 35 of the Painters and Allied Trades Building on Colgate Rd,
Roslindale
has made their building a "Coke Free Building" by removing all Coke
vending machines from the building; and <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><o:p></o:p></span><b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Whereas,</span></b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"> USW 8751 has succeeded
in having
Coca Cola vending machines
removed from all four school bus yards in the City of Boston; and <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Whereas,</span></b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"> the Boston City Council
recognizes
the importance of supporting local labor unions, who in the interest of
solidarity and justice, are supporting the boycott of Coca-Cola;

style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">
Resolved,</span></b><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">
that the Boston City Council states
it support for the international boycott of Coca-Cola products and does
hereby
declare that <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Boston</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Massachusetts</st1:State></st1:place> is a "Coke
Free"
city and asks the City <o:p></o:p>Administration to not serve
Coca-Cola products or stock them in any vending machines that are
located on
City property; and Be It Further <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><o:p></o:p></span><b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;">Resolved,</span></b><span
style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"> that the Boston City
Council
encourages all businesses to immediately cease and desist from the
stocking and
selling of all Coca-Cola
products until the international boycott has been resolved.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
