It is a major deep dig into half a century of hidden US history, a fresh explanation of how and why the Bushes came to power and how the national security establishment behind their rise continues to maintain a grip on the current White House administration. Gore Vidal calls Family of Secrets, which comes out in paperback in October, “one of the most important books of the past 10 years.” Baker’s work has also been praised by Dan Rather and Bill Moyers.<br>
