style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">In September 2008 Barcelona-based anticapitalist Enric Duran announced </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">he had expropriated 492,000 euros by taking out loans he never intended </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">to pay back. Announced with the publication of 200,000 free newspapers, </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">the action helped launch a Podem, a region-wide campaign promoting </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">alternatives to capitalism that combines the tradition of Catalan</SPAN> <SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">anarchism, the theory of “de-growth,” and the alternative currency</SPAN> <SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times new roman, serif">movement. Scott Pinkelman, one of the group’s English translators, will </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: times
