on cultural resistance and recognition of the collective memory of Venezuelan
black communities who are descendants of cimarrons. Shot between Venezuela and
Cameroon, this film elaborates on the connection between the water drums
played in the Baka community of Cameroon, and the water drums played in the
rivers of various afrodescendant communities of Venezuela. The sound produced
by the water drums is explained as a link that facilitates the reuniting
between Africa and her descendants in Venezuelan soil. This documentary invites
us to reflect upon the social and historical significance of a cultural
manifestation that has survived not only abduction, slavery and post colonial
oppression, but also globalization and the acculturation of contemporary
society. <br></span></b></font></p><font size="2"><b><span style="color: black;"></span></b></font><font color="#000000">Introductory remarks by<b> Jorge Guerrero</b>, Consul General of Venezuela in New Orleans and former National Speaker of the Afro- Venezuelan</font><font size="2"><b><span style="color: black; font-weight: normal;"> Network.
