<p>The CCR appreciates the opportunity to share its work to help us win in the "court of public opinion".</p>
<p>The <a href="http://ccrjustice.org/">Center for Constitutional Rights</a> is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Founded in 1966 by attorneys who represented civil rights movements in the South, CCR is a non-profit legal and educational organization committed to the creative use of law as a positive force for social change.</p>
<p><a href="http://ccrjustice.org/about-us/staff-board/gallagher,-katherine">Katherine Gallagher</a> is a Senior Staff Attorney at the CCR, where she focuses on holding individuals, including US and foreign government officials, and corporations, including private military contractors, accountable for serious human rights violations. Among the cases she is working on are <em>Arar v. Ashcroft</em>, <em>Matar v. Dichter</em>, <em>Saleh v. Titan</em> and <em>Estate of Atban v. Blackwater</em>.</p>
<p>Prior to joining <span class="il">CCR, she worked at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from 2001-2006. Among other jobs, she has also worked as a legal advisor for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Kosovo and with the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown. During the negotiations to establish the International Criminal Court, she worked as a member of the Women’s Caucus for Gender Justice in the International Criminal Court, to ensure that gender-based violence and discrimination are adequately addressed.</span></p>
<p>Katherine currently serves as a Vice-President on the International Board of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), of which <span class="il">CCR has been a member since 2004. Katherine received a joint M.A. in Journalism and Middle East Studies from New York University in 1995 and a J.D. from the City University of New York in 2000.</span></p>
