 eyes of the world are on the Arab Spring: the wave of protests and 
revolutions sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. The revolution in
 Egypt, which shook the world and toppled the corrupt, brutal, and 
US-backed Hosni Mubarak dictatorship, is especially inspiring and 
continuing.</p>Egyptian socialist, activist, and journalist <b>AHMED SHAWKI</b> was in Cairo at the height of the mass occupation of Tahrir Square. He wrote for <a target="_blank" href="http://socialistworker.org/featured/witness-to-revolution"><i>Socialist Worker</i></a> and the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.isreview.org/issues/76/feat-egyptchronicle.shtml"><i>International Socialist Review</i></a>
 about the revolution -- the struggles of workers, the takeovers of 
neighborhoods by their residents, and the transformations of ordinary 
people as they took their lives and their society into their own hands. <br>

On Thursday, April 14th, Ahmed will be speaking at UMass-Boston in the afternoon, and Jamaica Plain in the evening.</div><br>
