We were able to purchase <BR>> > the<BR>> > new space with money from our dedicated building fund. Not having to pay <BR>> > rent<BR>> > puts us on a viable financial footing for the first time in many years.<BR>> ><BR>> > At our new location, we are still unpacking boxes and generally getting <BR>> > the<BR>> > store into a condition where it’s ready to open to the public. We are also <BR>> > in<BR>> > the process of meeting some community social justice groups in Jamaica <BR>> > Plain to<BR>> > initiate a conversation about how LPC can be a positive presence in our <BR>> > new<BR>> > neighborhood, particularly with regard to the ongoing gentrification of <BR>> > Jamaica<BR>> > Plain. As a collective, we have decided that we don’t want to open the <BR>> > store<BR>> > until we have some meaningful conversations with community groups and <BR>> > residents<BR>> > and business owners who live near the new LPC location, and until we host <BR>> > a<BR>> > public forum for people to share ideas for and concerns about the new LPC<BR>> > location in JP.
