This project will provide bicycles to community health workers in order to improve their efficiency and productivity in providing health services to people in rural areas of Amuru. Bikes Not Bombs will also train the community health workers in bicycle mechanics and establish bicycle repair infrastructure throughout Amuru.</font></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal Helvetica; min-height: 14px; "><br></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><div>During this presentation you’ll hear from David Branigan, BNB’s International Program Director, who has just returned from Amuru, working on logistics and laying the groundwork needed before the project’s launch. David will share a short film (~12 minutes) that he has edited from footage and interviews he did during his visit. You can get to know Evelyn and Sylvester, some of the community activist health workers who are partnering with Bikes Not Bombs, as well as seeing some of the countryside and villages, with Ugandan music as a soundrack.</div><div><br></div><div>David will share his observations and lessons from his time in-country, as well as details about how this project went from an idea to reality. You’ll hear about how the partnership with St. Mary's Lacor Hospital started, findings from the baseline health and transportation survey that was administered in 2010 and how this project will harness the power of the bicycle to positively impact the overall health outcomes in Amuru. There will also be time for Q&A about this project as well as BNB’s other projects overseas.</div><div><br></div><div>This is a unique opportunity for an inside look into Bikes Not Bombs' process for establishing new international partners and creating projects overseas.
