hey folks,<br> everyone should check out the People's Music Network Winter Gathering happening next weekend, Jan 27 - 29 in Lawrence, MA. It's accessible by the commuter rail and is a really incredible event. This year we'll be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the great Bread & Roses Strike of 1912. This gathering was started by Pete Seeger and Charlie King and is attended by an incredible array of radical activists and musicians from around the country.<br>
<br>The gathering kicks off with a concert on Friday, January 27th and features some of the best known labor singer/songwriters in the world including legendary radical feminist labor singer ANNE FEENEY, who Utah Phillips calls "the best labor singer in North America." I'm also performing with my hip-hop/riot-folk collaborative project, BACK TO THE ROOTS, featuring South Bronx hiphop freedom singer, spiritchild of Mental Notes.<br>

The People's Music Network Winter Gathering is a musical event that is not to be missed! This national organization is joining the Lawrence, MA, Community in its celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Bread & Roses Strike. With the Occupy Movement, songs for social change will be more in demand. Come join the network that has been promoting music for social change since 1977.<br>

At the gathering, Charlie King and Karen Brandow will present an historical, multi-media show of song, video and spoken word about the Bread & Roses strike in the plenary.<br>

The Friday night concert will feature labor singer/songwriters: <br>Anne
Feeney, Bev Grant, Jon Fromer and Tom Juravich. Also appearing are
west coast folk duo Rebel Voices, hip-hop / riot-folk collab Back to the Roots (Spiritchild & Evan Greer), local rap group Supnater, Bread & Roses, the Lawrence High School Girls Ensemble and the PMN
Chorus.<br>
<br>Plus a Round Robin open mic on Saturday night, Songs of the Spirit on Sunday morning, and lots of fun and impromptu jamming.<br>
