September 27th marks the 50th anniversary of the book "Silent Spring," written by Rachel Carson.</div>



<div>"Silent Spring" is identified with the start of the modern environmental protection movement.    For the last ten years, community people in Falmouth have honored Rachel Carson and her work with a harvest dinner.    This is an old-fashioned church supper that raises money for the community food pantry.   Individuals are asked to contribute $15 for the food pantry.   For information, contact the church office.    Telephone:  (508) 457-0449.</div>
