(SMFA) fall exhibition <b>“Dilated Biography: Contemporary
Cuban Narratives”</b> brings together 15 Cuban artists who
examine the history—or biography—of their native country through
the lens of their personal life experiences. The diverse group
of works, including video, installation, painting, draws on
Cuba’s past, present and imaging what lies ahead for the future.<br>

<b>SMFA Beckwith Lecture: "The Perversion of Classics: The
Anarchy of Narrations"</b><br>
Tuesday, September 10, 1–2 pm (Alfond Auditorium, MFA*)<br>
Fernández Torres discusses the exhibition he curated for the
Cuban pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale, 55th International
Art Exhibition. Established in 1978 by Leo and Betty Beckwith
(daughter Carol is an alumna), the Beckwith series was created
to further SMFA student development by featuring artists and
cultural thinkers of national and international stature.<br>
<br>
Exhibition hours: Monday–Saturday, 10 am–5 pm; Thursday, 10
am–8 pm; closed Sundays and holidays. Admission to the
exhibition and related events is free.<br>
