The Militant Labor
Forumpresents:

A showing of
the documentary –
 “Labor’s Turning
Point”The Minneapolis Truck Strikes of 1934

 At the
beginning of 1934 Minneapolis was a non-union city where workers labored for
depression wages and had few unions. By the end of the year the city was
solidly union and workers had forced the bosses to raise wages and improve
working conditions.

This documentary covers the 1934 Teamsters
organizing drive in Minneapolis.  Through hard-fought strikes and with a class-struggle leadership,
rank-and-file workers defeated the trucking bosses and the strikebreaking
efforts of the big-business “Citizens Alliance” and the city, state, and
federal governments.

The victory in Minneapolis was followed by
an 11-state Teamster over-the-road organizing drive and led to the building of
a fighting industrial union movement that spread throughout the upper Midwest.
