FFMIT Spring Climate Change Speaker Series

World famous climate scientist and prominent advocate of global warming
intervention, Dr. Hansen will discuss the realities of the climate
crisis confronting us as the 21st century unfolds, and the opportunities
for us to rise to meet them, with a particular emphasis on the role and
responsibilities of our youth generation. Directly following the talk,
we welcome you to join us for an informal reception with Dr. Hansen in
the Bush Room (10-105).

Dr. Hansen, formerly Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space
Studies (a position from which he retired to "focus more on climate
activism"), is Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's Earth
Institute, where he directs a program in Climate Science, Awareness and
Solutions. Dr. Hansen is well known for his 1998 testimony on climate
change to Congress that helped raise broad awareness of global warming.
Dr. Hansen is one of the world's most prominent advocates of public and
political action against climate change, and was named one of TIME
Magazine's 100 most influential people on Earth in 2006.
