Between Feb 17 and Mar 12 2014 the All Indian Dalit Mahila Adhikar
Manch (AIDMAM), a national campaign to end caste-based sexual
violence, led a Dalit Mahila Swabhiman Yatra (Dalit Women’s
Self-Determination Tour). The tour featured several events and
protests to put political pressure on officials, call out perpetrators
and raise the continued cry for justice.
The General Secretary of AIDMAM Asha Kowtal, and filmmaker/organizer
Thenmozhi Soundararajan who traveled across India on this historic
tour will present a report-back by means of first-person accounts and
video clips. This event presents a great opportunity to support
critical Dalit women's social movements happening today, as well as
continue to raise the questions of caste and social justice within
India and the United States.
