*“What would you tell the world about nuclear weapons?”*

Show us, in a film 30-120 seconds long. You could think about:

*The cost*: 200,000 died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki

*The risk*: Human error has repeatedly put us within minutes of a first
strike

*The scale*: There are over 17,000 nuclear weapons in the world

*The price*: £100 billion to replace UK’s ‘Trident’ nuclear weapon system


*Prizes - new for 2014 – ‘most watched film’ prize!*There will be
£1000-worth of prizes awarded - the prizes in the Young Adult (19-25) age
category being cash, and a mixture of cash and film-making equipment being
offered in the younger age groups. This year, for the first time, we shall
also be offering a special prize for the qualifying entry which the judges
consider to have been seen by the most people within 3 months of the
closing date of the competition – whether at a film festival, cinema, film
club screening, on YouTube (measured by comments left via the Film
Competition’s YouTube channel), at school or college,…Simply submit
evidence of your films screenings.

This free-of-charge event will be held at 12:30 for a 1:00 pm start om Sun
16th November and will showcase the best entries on the ‘big screen’, with
an opportunity for the young film-makers to introduce their work, before
judge David Sproxton (co-founder of Aardman) announces the winners and
presents the prizes.  A panel discussion will follow, providing a unique
opportunity to ask questions of David and a panel of other distinguished
film-making professionals.
