In the recent mid-term election, the *Green-Rainbow Party* won ballot
status as an officially recognized political party in Massachusetts. This
eliminates the restritive fundraising and organizational constraints under
which they were operating, and provides them with a ballot line for the
2016 presidential election.
On Saturday, November 15, the Green-Rainbow *state convention* in
Worcester will welcome a number of speakers who will talk about the year's
achievements and discuss strategies for challenging establishment forces in
the voting booth.
"Across the nation, the Green Party has emerged as the leading progressive
challenger to candidates of the political establishment" according to
Green-Rainbow co-chair *John Andrews*. "We are often the only voice in the
election dialogue calling for economic justice, universal single-payer
health care, a full employment economy, the abolition of poverty,
elimination of student debt, cutting the bloated Pentagon budget, and
decisive action to move from fossil fuels to renewable energy. In the past
two years the Green-Rainbow Party has been successful in winning seats on
town boards. And our success in winning support from young people points
to a bright future. Our goal is to put electoral action in the tool kit of
every group fighting for people, peace, and the planet."
Speakers at the convention will include Green Party founder John
*Rensenbrink*, anti-gas pipeline leader *Jim Cutler*, and 2012 Green Party
presidential candidate *Jill Stein*.
State wide candidates *Danny Factor*, *Ian Jackson*, and *Merelice*, will
review their recent campaigns for Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and
State Auditor. Among other things, they will discuss their proposed
billion-dollar "Community Uplift Initiative" which is the Green-Rainbow
alternative to Governor Patrick's "Billion for Biotech".
