On Nov. 20th at 5pm at Harvard Square (Holyoke Center, next to Au Bon Pan), please join housekeepers from the Harvard University ownedDoubletree Hotel as they march to end high rates of work-related injuries andpain resulting from their work.  The incidence rate for work-related injuryand illness for workers across all job classifications at Harvard’s hotelduring 2013 was 75% higher than the average for hotel and other accommodationworkers in Massachusetts during 2012—the most recent year for which thegovernment has reported data.  For more information on health and safetyissues facing Doubletree housekeepers, please see the attached report.

In 2011, Harvard earned $22,5 million in income fromowning this hotel.  ShouldHarvard be allowed to gain from the pain of these workers?  Workersare courageously speaking up and standing up for their safety.  Supportthem and march with them and their families on the 20th as they ask HarvardUniversity to play an active role in reviewing the safety of the housekeepersat their own hotel.
