TheMilitant Labor Forum Presents:

Cop Brutality:

Key Part of Capitalist Rule

Friday,December 19 - 7:30 pm

The copswho killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and who choked Eric Garner todeath in Staten Island, New York, face no criminal charges. On December 13thousands marched in Washington, DC, New York City, Boston and other citiesdemanding they be charged. Chants of “Hands up don’t shoot” and “I can’tbreathe” have come to symbolize the fight.

How canpolice violence be stopped? Better civilian review boards? Body cameras oncops? Sensitivity training for cops? Shutting down highways?

Join adiscussion on why police violence is part of the rule of the propertied class - those who hold state power and whose wealthcomes from exploiting workers. They see us as an outlaw class that must beintimidated, divided and punished. Cops, prosecutors, grand juries, plea-bargaining,courts and prisons — the whole capitalist “justice” system — exist to do that.

The bosses and the Democratic and Republican party politicians whorepresent them need the repressive forces of the state. The crisis-wrackedcapitalist rulers have tossed millions out of work; intensified production, threatening life and limb; and slashed social programs, spawning laborresistance, social protest and growing discussion of the need for the workingclass to chart a political course independent of the bosses and their parties.
