MAPA members and peace supporters,
The Veterans for Peace's Smedley Butler brigade have again been excluded
from this year's St Patrick's parade, after they thought they had a deal to
be included. Read Adrian Walker's summary at
https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/03/17/once-again-room-for-pacifists-patrick-day-parade/KXsLg7wiE9xs7hjiO4mgRK/story.html
The Smedleys will instead hold a vigil this Sunday, March 20, in front of
Tony Flaherty's house, as Pat Scanlon explains below. South Boston's Tony
was the fiery heart of the Smedleys' challenge to the official militarist
parade for many years, and he passed away last year. Please join the
vigil, and bring your peace signs and banners.

Subject: Vigil at Saint Pats Parade
Hello Smedleys and Samanthas,
*PLEASE JOIN US*
*VFP members and supporters will gather at 524 East Broadway in South
Boston for a quiet protest*.
*Time: Please gather prior to 12:30 pm, parade starts at 1:00 pm*
As you know, VFP once again was prohibited from participating in the Saint
Patrick's Day Parade.
On Sunday we will gather in front of Tony Flaherty's former home. His
sister Kate still has a condominium at that address. We will hold our flags
high in silent protest and in honor of our lost brother Tony Flaherty. As
you know Tony was a stanch opponent of the bigoted and exclusionary
practices of the AWVC. The fight goes on.
Thank you, hope to see you there.
St. Pats Organizing Committee
*PLEASE FORWARD TO YOUR CONTACTS*
