Black Cuban feminists, cultural promoters, and educators, Mirna Padrón Dickson and Diarenis Rosa Calderon Tartabull direct an Independent artistic-social project called MirArte Diadia. They consider themselves agents of change who use their creativity as a vehicle for social transformation. They apply a differential and intersectional approach that uses their experiences in Political Education in Human Rights and the Culture of Peace, with a gender perspective.

Members of Sisters In Stitches Joined By The Cloth quilt guild will join Artist Mirna Padrón Dickson as she discusses the work process of artists and creators who demonstrate through visual anthropology the influence of Africa and its diaspora in traditional folk culture of Cuba and the relationship with the Caribbean and the United States.

Join us at the Lothrop Auditorium at Community Church of Boston for a discussion and viewing of paintings by Mirna Padrón Dickson and quilts by members of Sisters In Stitches Joined By The Cloth.

Light refreshments will be served
