Emergency rally Gov Baker: Ya Basta! Tomorrow, Tuesday the 15th, 11:45AM
at the State House steps!
Dear supporters of Keep Francisco Home,
On Monday July 31st, Francisco and his wife and family welcomed a
beautiful baby boy, Josue Mateo Rodriguez. We congratulate the family
and send them blessings and love. But it was a bittersweet moment for
the family to be separated. Francisco and his attorney asked for a 24
hour release with an ankle bracelet from ICE and ICE denied this simple
humanitarian request forcing Francisco to miss the birth of his son. ICE
always has the discretion to release Francisco and we needed Gov Baker
to step in and act but he was silent!
Since we first rallied on the State House steps on the July 20th, Gov
Baker has not stepped in to ask ICE for Francisco’s release from
detention. Instead, during this time, he proposed an ICE detainer bill
that targets immigrants even after the highest court in Massachusetts
ruled court officers do not have authority to hold people on ICE detainers.
Enough is enough-- what side is Gov Baker on? Now it's the time to stand
up for immigrant justice!
Tomorrow is the anniversary of DACA, which 800,000 young immigrants rely
on to work, study and stay in the only home they've known. We're calling
on Gov Baker to protect DACA and immigrants against this xenophobic
White House.
323,000 Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries who make up 4% of
the foreign born population also risk losing their status in the six
months. Gov Baker needs to step up and call DHS and the Trump
administration to voice his support for protecting immigrants with TPS
status.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 15th, at 11:45AM, at the State House steps, please
join us for an emergency rally to call on Governor Baker to stand on the
side of justice and to support Francisco and immigrant workers just like
him. We demand Gov Baker support Massachusetts immigrant residents and
their families by defending DACA, defending TPS, killing his
anti-immigrant ICE detainer bill and supporting the Safe Communities
bill. Enough is enough/Ya basta!
Gov Baker: Ya Basta! Pick a side- Free Francisco, defend DACA & TPS and
protect immigrant families!
