Professor GN Saibaba of Delhi University, who is 90% disabled and a
tireless advocate of indigenous and other oppressed peoples and castes has
been sentenced to life in prison. Learn why and what it may represent for
democratic voices in India and internationally.
Panelist David Pugh, a member of the Free Saibaba Coalition-US, travelled
to India on a fact-finding mission to learn more about the People's
movements in India today. He and other members of the Coalition will
present on Saibaba's condition, case, and activism, as well as the
relationship between Saibaba's case and the larger situation in India,
including the rural anti-displacement struggles and progressive political
movements more broadly.
