*Mark will present a strategic analysis of the capitalist system, in terms
of what we as a people's movement can do to overturn it, along with ideas
of what democracy and a people base economy can look like as we move
forward into the 21st century and beyond, from the perspective of the role
of poets, specifically revolutionary poets in this struggle. *

Mark Lipman is a writer, poet, multi-media artist and activist. He is the
author of seven books, most recently, *Imposing Democracy*; *Poetry for the
Masses*; and *Global Economic Amnesty*. Lipman uses poetry to connect
communities to the greater social issues that affect all of our lives,
while building consciousness through the spoken word. He is the founder of
the press VAGABOND, recipient of the 2015 Joe Hill Labor Poetry Award, and
winner of the 2016 International Latino Book Award for *The Border Crossed
Us* (an anthology to end apartheid). Lipman is the co-founder of the
Berkeley Stop the War Coalition (USA), Agir Contre la Guerre (France) and
Occupy Los Angeles, and he has been an outspoken critic of war and
occupation since 2001.

*How Capitalist Crises Unfold*
Wadi'h Halabi, Economics Commission, CPUSA and CME

No one chapter in Marx covers how capitalist crises unfold. Rosa Luxemburg
took a stab at an explanation. Responding to Luxemburg, the Bolshevik
economists Bukharin and Preobrazhensky did the definitive work on this
question. The topic is important to understand what is happening today, and
preparing the transition from capitalism to socialism.
