The film "In the Name of Your Daughter" will be shown as part of the
International Film Festival on Thursday, April 11 at 4:30 at Kendall Sq
Theater in Cambridge and on Friday, April 12 at 2:30 at Cambridge College
in Boston (500 Rutherford Avenue) with the director Giselle Portenier in
attendance.

The film is about brave girls in Tanzania who stand up for their rights and
risk their lives to run away from female genital mutilation (FGM) and the
Safe House that protects them from parents who believe they need to be
cut.  The director of the Safe House, Rhobi Samwelly, supervises
conversations between the girls and parents and only allows the girls to
return home when she and the girls are sure that the girls will be safe.
 The courts, police and Safe House work together in a very inspiring way to
save girls from this painful tradition.
