> As many of you know, Fridays for the Future have taken over headlines, as young people have demanded we address the climate crisis. This September 20, the youth in charge of these protests are calling on us to join them in solidarity, as they host the Global Climate Strike <https://www.facebook.com/events/boston-city-hall-plaza/boston-climate-strike/349500849297711/>, across the world. Just three days prior to an emergency UN climate summit, large participation in this strike is meant to disrupt our own daily ‘business as usual’ lives, which will serve as a demonstration that we can no longer continue business as usual if we are to solve the climate crisis.
>
> Thus, we are asking you to join us <https://actionnetwork.org/events/mit-kendall-goes-to-the-climate-strike>, as we protest in solidarity with the youth. Whether it is the construction of oil pipelines, coal lobbyists, or climate justice, your personal tie to climate change is important, and we want it represented.
>
> Join us at the climate strike
> Where: Outside the student center (the entrance by LaVerde’s market) at MIT
> When: September 20 at 10:45am
> What: We will march through campus (departing around 11) toward the Kendall T stop, then walk/take public transit to the climate strike rally by Boston City Hall Plaza as a group.

> Join us in advance to meet other scientists and learn more about how to get involved
> In advance of the climate strike and week of action, join us for a discussion on the role of scientists in the youth climate strike.
> We will highlight the strike organizers and their demands, internationally, nationally, and locally, as well as ways to get involved in long term organizing. We will be hosting a zoom webinar featuring 3 panelists. A discussion among attendees on effectively organizing your workplace to participate in climate action will follow. You can either join online or come to the in-person meetings at MIT and WHOI.
