The Central Union of Workers of Colombia, CUT, has announced that there will
be a National General Strike on November 21 to protest against “labor
reform”, “pension reform”, “financial holding” and for peace. In 2018, the
election in Colombia brought Iván Duque Márquez to the presidency. Since
then, right-wing paramilitary forces are resuming a genocidal campaign
against the civilian opposition. These killings include human rights
activists, indigenous peoples, Afro-Colombians, displaced land activists,
and community organizers. Over the past year the government has implemented
a series of neo-liberal policies that have curtailed the rights of working
people and eroded their standard of living. More attacks are being proposed
by the government. Please join us in organizing protest activities scheduled
for Thursday, November 21 in solidarity with the National Strike in
Colombia. All are welcome.
