Join Extinction Rebellion and many other amazing activist groups on Saturday, November 9 in a conference sponsored by Mass Peace Action to explore the links between “war, war spending, and useable nuclear weapons” and the “climate movement, growing protection of the rights of immigrants and refugees, relentless affordable housing advocacy, and the antiracism movement.”

Representative Ayanna Pressley will lead a group of outstanding speakers, including Medea Benjamin, founder of Code Pink, Women for Peace, Merrie Najimy, president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and Kevin C. Peterson, the founder of The New Democracy Coalition for civic literacy, civic policy and electoral justice — plus many other leading voices in activism today. http://masspeaceaction.org/event/rising-up-for-a-livable-future/

Extinction Rebellion will lead a breakout session on the climate crisis and ecological breakdown that threaten the continuation of life as we know it. This session will confront the record atmospheric carbon levels, global temperature rise, deforestation, plastic pollution, and mass extinction of species. XR will present the path forward through NVDA (non-violent direct action) against governments’ criminal inaction to make the planet safe. The workshop will demonstrate how to use the tactics of NVDA to raise awareness and mobilize people to create systemic change. http://masspeaceaction.org/rising-up-breakouts/

To confront the climate and ecological crisis, we have to confront racism, economic injustice, injustice against immigrants, and militarism. Come join us to learn how. As Martin Luther King said, “The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists, who are dedicated to justice, peace, and brotherhood.”
