    ANTIWAR FORUM: Thursday, April 26 @ 7pm

  Iraqis, US soldiers and US citizens all want troops out NOW. 
  Why does the war continue? How can it be stopped? 
   
  Join in this discussion with leading antiwar voices, featuring:
   
  Matt Howard-- an active member of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). He served 2 tours of duty as a marine in the First Tank Battalion in Iraq. Now he speaks to students, soldiers and activists around the country. Recently he spoke during a series of events at Different Drummer Cafe, a GI coffeehouse near Fort Drum in upstate NY, aimed at increasing antiwar resistance within the military.
   
  Melida Arredondo-- a member of Military Families Speak Out and Gold Star Families for Peace, she has spoken powerfully about the brutal effects of the war on her family and community at many antiwar events and in many publications. She is heavily involved in local anti-war activity, including counter-recruitment efforts, The Occupation Project and other initiatives. She is the stepmother of Lance Cpl. Alexander Arredondo, killed in Iraq, August 25, 2004.
   
  Elaine Hagopian-- a nationally known scholar and activist, and Professor Emerita of Sociology, Simmons College, she is the author of numerous books and articles on Middle East affairs. She is a member of the National Council of Arab Americans and the editor of Civil Rights in Peril: The Targeting of Arabs and Muslims, which documents the human impact of the "War on Terror" and offers critical analysis of the key role played by Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism in providing ongoing justification and cover for US actions in the Middle East.
   
  Khury Peterson-Smith-- a local JP antiwar activist and member of the International Socialist Organization. He helped to found the Campus Anti-War Network (CAN) in 2002-3 and traveled to Iraq on a peace delegation after the invasion in 2004.  Afterwards, he went on a national speaking tour of campuses to share what he had learned from his experiences there.  He will offer thoughts about current challenges, opportunities and key next steps for the antiwar movement, as well a perspectve about what it will take to actually end the war.

  From Green Street T stop on the Orange Line- the church is a block away from the back of the station, heading towards Centre St.
  From Bus 39 or 41 on Centre St- the Purple Cactus Restaturant is on the corner of Centre and Seaverns, walk up several blocks, the church is on the right
