45 Mt. Auburn, Cambridge MA
6:30 - 7:00 gather, socialize, refreshments
7:00 - 8:45 discussion

Through the history of the United States, the contributions to our
national life made by immigrants has been monumental. Yet
anti-immigrant movements have always existed, and today is no exception.
Many in our communities fear that new immigrants will take their jobs;
others celebrate the rich vitality that immigrants bring to our
neighborhoods. Few of us, perhaps, fully understand the forces driving
the ongoing waves of immigration, as globalizing capital destroys local
economies, leaving people with no choice but to leave their homes, their
culture, their loved ones behind and go in search of the work they need
for themselves and their families to survive.

This meeting will be the first in what Boston DSA hopes will be a series
of forums and discussion meetings on the subjects of immigration and
globalization, how they are interrelated, and the effects - pro and con
- that they have on our communities.
