Dr. Wisam Breegi is a Mandaean refugee who fled Iraq in 1991. He was 
involved in human rights issues and was outspoken regarding his 
disapproval of Saddam Hussein’s government regime. In 1992 he came to 
the United States with his wife and young son. Today, he is working to 
preserve the Mandaean culture, history and traditions.

Come learn about the Mandaeans, a unique and ancient pacifist religious 
community. Hear about their current situation in Iraq and Iran, the 
threats they face as a religious minority, and what’s being done to 
prevent the extinction of this ancient culture.
