Come hear about this exciting and important protest!!!
Hear local activists report on their experiences
Get involved in the effort to spread the word
and plan local actions building up to Kennebunkport Antiwar Protest on August 25th!

>>>Liam Madden has just returned from a successful IVAW bus tour of the military bases on the East Coast to do antiwar outreach to active duty service members. Earlier this summer, he made headlines when he came under attack and investigation by the Marines for making supposed "disloyal statements" such as calling the war in Iraq a "war crime." While they hoped to make an example of him, Liam scored a huge victory when the Marines were forced to drop the charges against him and scramble to save face in the media. This is hugely important precedent set by Liam that needs to be discussed in the antiwar movement.

>>>Melida Arredondo has just been named the Northeast Coordinator of the insurgent Senate campaign that antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan has vowed to run against Democrat Nancy Pelosi (unless Pelosi introduces an Impeachment Resolution by a deadline set for next week!) Also, later this summer Melida will be coordinating an East Coast tour of Helga Aguayo and Augustin Aguayo (an Iraq war resister who recently got out of military prison in Germany for bravely deciding to resist redeployment on an explicitly antiwar basis. Their tour will build up for and culminate in speaking at the protest on August 25th.

>>>Jamilla El-Shafei recently spearheaded organizing efforts for a successfull rally and protest on July 1st in Kennebunkport, Maine, which coincided with Vladimir Putin's visit to Bush's vacation home and was widely reported in national and international media. SHe is moving full steam ahead towards the protest on August 25th which is on track to be even bigger, better and perfectly timed in order to insert OUR voices into the national discussion RIGHT AS a vote the new funding bill will be coming down to the wire!

Come hear these organizers share their recent experiences, lessons and thoughts about the war in Iraq, what it will take to end it, and the role that the antiwar protest in Kennebunkport can play. Bring your own thoughts, experiences, questions and ideas for action! Participate in a discussion about how, right now, we can begin the process of turning the antiwar majority in the country (and in the military) into a powerful FORCE that can actually bring an end to this horrific war.
