THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF BOSTON
SUNDAY SPEAKERS FORUM presents...
Sunday, January 6, 2007 at 11:00am
MICHAEL BANCEWICZ:
"Hunger, Poverty, Homelessness, and the State of the City"
Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us to address oppression in three point,
racism, militarism, and poverty. We can often see the intersections of
these forms of oppression. This Sunday we will look at the impact of hunger,
poverty and homelessness within the city of Boston. Join us as we discuss
the signs of hope and opportunities to effect change in here in Boston. As
we prepare to begin our Monday night dinners we must be educated on the
systemic issues affecting homeless folks in Boston today.
Michael Bancewicz is the Coordinator of Community Initiatives at the Church
on the Hill, Boston. He is also a member/volunteer of the street ministry,
Ecclesia Ministries/common cathedral. Among his affiliations, he
co-facilitates the monthly Doorbell Ministry meetings, where agencies and
church leadership gather to discuss trends and resources regarding the
members of our community most in need. He is currently involved in the start
up of an initiative called the "Agape Project" which in few words is a
neighbor to neighbor connection for the newly housed (formally homeless)
with folks already established in the communities they are moving to.
