"The higher politicians climb the pole of ambition, the more of their arses
we can see." -- Pieter-Dirk Uys
Internationally acclaimed South African AIDS education activist and
political satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys is coming back to Boston, and you're
invited to join the fun!
Uys' witty new one-man show, *Elections and Erections: A Chronicle of Fear &
Fun*, comes to the American Repertory Theatre's Zero Arrow Club in
Cambridge, April 3 - May 4. Show times & more info: www.amrep.org/elections/
Pieter-Dirk Uys is one of the world's great political cabaret performers,
inciting laughter and raising political awareness with every show. Growing
up in South Africa, his work was banned for much of the apartheid regime,
when he encouraged the resistance movement through his performances. Today,
Uys has shifted his focus to education, working with young students,
addressing South Africa's national health crisis and delving into the
current political situation – not to mention bringing his newest one-man
show to Cambridge and the world.
A diabolically witty skewering of the powers that be, *Elections and
Erections: A Chronicle of Fear & Fun* includes America and some of our
prominent political personages in its hilarious lambasting of social,
sexual, and political hypocrisy. Uys creates characters throughout the show,
ranging from Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu to Mrs. Evita Bezuidenhout,
"the most famous white woman in South Africa." Timely, topical, and wickedly
funny – you've got to see him for yourself!
See Pieter this spring at the A.R.T.'s cabaret-style Zero Arrow Club. Soft
drinks, beer and wine are available at the cash bar. Bring your friends and
