David Bacon on Immigration:
Illegal People: How Globalization Creates Migration and Criminalizes
Immigrants
Sept 9 Book discussion, 7PM
Jamaica Way Forum
6 Elliott St., Boston, MA
Next week David Bacon's new book "Illegal People: How Globalization Creates
Migration and Criminalizes Immigrants" will be officially released. In
"Illegal People" Bacon explores the human side of globalization, exposing
the many ways it uproots people in Latin America and Asia, driving them to
migrate. At the same time, U.S. immigration policy makes the labor of those
displaced people a crime in the United States. Illegal People explains why
our national policy produces even more displacement, more migration, more
immigration raids, and a more divided, polarized society.
Mr. Bacon will be speaking about the book on Sept 9, 7 pm at the Jamaica Way
Forum, in Boston.
DSA is not an official sponsor of this event, but we are in touch w/ David
Bacon about working together around these issues. We think this talk would
be very interesting to many ACT-MA list members.
