Please join the Guatemala Solidarity Committee of Boston, as we host a
speaking tour of human rights advocate and bishop, Alvaro Ramazzini of San
Marcos, Guatemala.

Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini will join with Greater Boston's Guatemalan community
and allies to celebrate the life and death of his friend, Bishop Juan
Gerardi, ten years after Bishop Gerardi's assassination. Following the
country's 36-year internal armed conflict, Bishop Gerardi led the
Catholic Church's Recovery of Historical Memory (REMHI) project. After
thousands of interviews with survivors, Bishop Gerardi and his colleagues
found that the vast majority of atrocities and crimes during the internal
armed conflict were committed by Guatemala's army and security forces. Two
days after the release of the REMHI report, *Guatemala: Nunca más,* Bishop
Gerardi was found bludgeoned to death.

Bishop Ramazzini, also called Bishop of the Poor and Excluded, will
celebrate a Mass together with Bishop Hennessey and priests of Latin
American parishes of the Boston area. After the mass, there will be a free
social and cultural event with Guatemalan food and music.
