Former Boston activist Kendall Hale, author of the new book *Radical
Passions: A Memoir of Revolution and Healing, *now a resident of Asheville,
North Carolina, will speak at Roxbury Community College at the start of
October:

"Radical Passions"

Her book includes many personal stories of life in the Boston-area antiwar
and social justice movement in the Boston area in the 1970s and '80s:  union
activism at the Unitrod factory and the General Dynamics shipyard;
membership in the feminist New Harmony Sisterhood Band; traveling to Cuba;
helping to build a solar house on Mission Hill; participation in the Central
America solidarity movement and helping build a health clinic in Esteli,
Nicaragua.  It also describes her life in a New Age and progressive
community in western North Carolina.  (For more information on the book,

Marcia Diehl and Deborah Silverstein, also former members of the New Harmony
Sisterhood Band, will join Kendall at the October 3 event and they will sing
several of the band's favorite songs.
