Join community leaders, concerned citizens, and state wide activists at the

Rally for an Energy Empowerment Revolution
on Tuesday, November 25th at the historic Faneuil Hall.

A perfect storm of economic recession and rising costs for fuel, food, and
healthcare threatens to multiply the effects of the current foreclosure
crisis. More than one million Massachusetts households heat with oil or
propane, and thus currently have no protection from fuel delivery shut-offs.
One hundred thousand more received utility shut-off notices this past Spring
and are at risk of being unable to pay their bills this winter. And
unemployment is rising. By addressing the heating crisis at the broadest
scale and making long-term investments in insulation and other energy
efficiency measures, we can make progress on many fronts: keeping people
from losing their homes, creating jobs, and helping the environment.

An ad hoc coalition is planning the rally to galvanize community support for
programs that would simultaneously address the moral, economic, and
environmental crisis that threatens the Commonwealth this winter. The Energy
Empowerment coalition calls for urgent statewide action to help families
meet the challenge of this winter’s heating crisis – and help people lower
their heating bills permanently by making their homes more snug and by
offering access to new technologies that will save money for families in
tight times.

Co-sponsors include Action for Regional Equity, Boston Climate Action
Network, Clean Water Action, Community Labor United, Environment
